Risa Hontiveros, former journalist and well-known women’s rights and peace advocate, expresses her high hopes after hearing President Aquino’s inaugural speech yesterday.
Joining the peace advocates composed of Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Philippine-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP) partner NGOs, POs and CSOs in a peace, culture, and development forum held in Cagayan de Oro City today, Hontiveros shares optimism for a smooth cooperation among stakeholders.
In her talk, she recounted salient points of President Aquino’s inaugural speech. Hontiveros praise President Aquino’s concern for Mindanaoans and his expressed commitment for a peaceful and just settlement of conflicts, inclusive of the interests of all – may be Lumads, Bangsamoro or Christian.
The Forum “kapayapaan at pagkakaisa sa gitna ng pagkakaiba” was organized by the AusAID-PACAP with the hope of sharing experiences and good practices in advocating peace and development agenda, celebrating cultural diversity, and intercultural solidarity.
