Northern Mindanao’s economy generated P11.65 billion (12.4%) during the first quarter of 2010 as it continues to be top performer for the island.
Data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) yesterday showed Northern Mindanao placing 5th overall in the country after National Capital Region (NCR) with P13.50 billion (14.4%), Western Visayas with P13.15 billion (14.4%); Eastern Visayas with P12.63 billion (13.5%) and Central Luzon, P12.51 billion (13.3%).
Also during the first quarter of this year, Northern Mindanao recorded a trade surplus of P4.74 billion, good for third in the country after Central Luzon (P12.1 billion), and Eastern Visayas (P7.31 billion). Following NorMin is the South Cotabato-Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat-Sarangani-General Santos City region (SOCCSKSARGEN) with P2.31 billion.
NCR, registered a trade deficit of P10.26 billion from a P5.24-billion surplus last year.
