Rookie shooting guard Carlo Lastimosa will finally get to play in Manila, but this time with College of St. Benilde and is expected to be one of the top rookies in the coming 86th NCAA season.
CSB Coach Richard Del Rosario said Lastimosa, nephew of former PBA star Isabelo “Jojo” Lastimosa could be one of the most exciting rookies in the league.
The 20-year-old Lastimosa is expected to be one of the team’s go-to-guy in the absence of their No. 1 scorer Jeff Morial, who has already finished his playing years. Lastimosa has been burning the hoops for CSB in pre-season tournaments.
Del Rosario describes the 6-foot-2 Lastimosa as “very athletic.”
Lastimosa had actually played for the Team B of defending two-time UAAP champion Ateneo before he transferred to CSB. He failed to suit up last year due to eligibility rules. He also suited up for the Xavier University High School in Cagayan de Oro City.
Del Rosario said he expects him to be one of the leaders of the team, whose squad is reeling from the loss of nine players to graduation.
Considering that his team is made up of nine rookies, nothing will delight coach Richard Del Rosario than to see the Blazers improve their eighth place finish (6-12) last season.
But hopefully, Carlo Lastimosa will make Cagayan de Oro proud again.
