Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula led local officials and the general public in the blessing of new facilities inside the New Cogon Public Market held recently last June 10, 2010.
The city’s biggest public market now has newly-installed floor tiles and long benches at the atrium, including two giant 52-inch flat TV, four giant blowers and ventilators, transparent roofing and a wishing fountain decorated with a pineapple replica. The public can view shows from the giant TV screens from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Jaraula said the public market’s third floor, which was supposed to be allocated for stall owners, will be converted into a sports zone for taekwondo, karate, boxing and bowling.
By next month, he said escalators would be added going to the third floor and would be in “full function” for the convenience of the public.
