Cagayan de Oro tennis sensation Francis Casey Alcantara may have failed in the singles event of the 51st Trofeo Bonfiglio 2010 in Milan, Italy, but is still in contention in the doubles.

Alcantara teamed up with Irish John Morrissey to beat the 8th seeded American tandem of Nick Chappell and Dane Webb, 6-1, 7-5, in the opening round.

The Alcantara-Morrissey pair will face Austrians Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Dominic Thiem in the 2nd Round. The Austrians edged Mexican Alexis Carlos and American Mitchell Krueger, 7-5, 2-6 [11-9].

Compatriot Jeson Patrombon also advanced in the doubles event. Patrombon and Richard Gabb of Great Britain, saw off Brazilian Guilherme Clezar and Japanese Yasutaka Uchiyama, 6-3, 2-6 [10-7]. They will play against Italians Marco Ceccahinato and Giammarco Micolani in the 2nd Round. The Italians defeated Mathias Bourgue and Mick Lescure of France, 6-3, 6-4.

Both Filipinos have earlier lost in the singles competition. Alcantara lost in his 1st Round match while Patrombon was stopped in the 2nd Round. Carlos of Mexico defeated Alcantara, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1. Patrombon overcame German Kevin Krawietz, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5), but lost to Brazilian Vitor Galvao, 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.
