CAGAYAN de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (Cohara), in cooperation with the Heritage Council of Cagayan de Oro, Department of Tourism – 10 and SM City Cagayan de Oro recently staged the ‘Kulinarya Festival’, an event showcasing the food specialties of Cohara, at the Atrium of SM City Cagayan de Oro.
Among the Cohara members who participated in the Kulinarya Festival include Hotel Conchita featuring its sizzling spicy squid; Casa Crystalla’s Fresh Lumpia with hot sauce along with suman and mangga; Dynasty Court Hotel’s Lechon Belly and Pancit Canton; VIP Hotel’s Crispy Banana with Langka Sauce and must try VIP’s fresh corned beef; Xavier Estates and Country Club’s Paella and Monte Cristo Sandwich, Pryce Plaza’s Chicken Binakol, Fried Pork Bignay with Steam Tapul Rice and Pandan Crepes with Avocado Sauce; Bigby’s Pollo Saborito and Banana Fanna; and Kagay-anon Restaurant’s Pinakbet.
Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism – 10, together with Uniliver Philippines gave a plaque of appreciation to each of the four top restaurants of Cagayan de Oro for making it to Soooo Pinoy’s Top 10 restaurants of the Philippines. Among the restaurants that were given recognition include Dynasty Court Hotel for the best pancit canton; Kagay-anon Restaurant for best pinakbet; Brewberry for the best adobo and Roadhouse Cafe – SM branch for the best kare-kare.
The Kulinarya Festival is one of the activities lined up for the National Heritage Festival 2010 and it aimed in bringing Cohara members together and at the same time promote their food specialties.
