IN YET another show of unity for an honest, orderly and peaceful election, at least 90 cyclists will run Friday from Cagayan de Oro to Malaybalay.
Dubbed as “Army for Credible Election” (ACE), the activity is spearheaded by the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Philippine Army and will be joined by several bike enthusiasts from Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro, and Bukidnon.
Lt. Col. Michele Anayron, 4ID spokesperson, said more than one half of the participants are civilian who would start biking at around 4:30 a.m. at the grand stand in Camp Evangelista toward Malaybalay City.
“Through this bike for a credible election, we hope to spread two of the army’s advocacy for the environment and the election,” Anayron told Sun.Star Cagayan.
He said the Army had four concerns where they call it the four ACEs and one of these is the Army for Credible Election. The other ACEs are Army’s Concern for Environment, Army’s Concern for Engineering and Army’s Combat Excellence.
Anayron said the Army is used to exercise their rights of suffrage by casting their votes during elections.
But by boarding on this innovative endeavor, he said the military seeks to manifest to the people their fervent concern for the conduct of a credible first-ever automated election.
Recently, the 4th ID also spearheaded a unity march dubbed “Martsa sa Kalinaw” recently as it hoped to effect non-violent social change and a peaceful and honest election.
