The city has started making steps widening the four-lane Agora Road from CM Recto Avenue up to Agora area. The island which occupies about 3/4 width of a lane has been reduced to about 6 or 7 feet wide.
Agora Road was constructed in the mid-1990s but after a decade, the outer lane has been converted into a parking area for delivery trucks because the strip is lined with warehouses and stalls of all kinds. This has resulted to heavy traffic in the area because instead of 4 lanes, only 2 lanes are usually utilized.
I just hope the city will place some concrete linings on the island. Without it, there will come a time the island will be eroded.
