MISAMIS Oriental Telecommunications System (Misortel) is set to purchase a Next Generation Network (NGN) switch for technology upgrade.
According to news reports, the project would be funded through a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) worth P41 million.
NGN is a latest technology of MetaSwitch Networks that drives the evolution of communications networks and services — from circuits to packet, TDM (time division multi-flexing) and to Internet Protocol. NGN has the capacity of 70,000 lines with a speed of one gigabyte per second.
Misortel is the 500th client from all over the world who purchased the equipment and the first to use in the Philippines. The new facility is now being tested by Misortel’s experts.
By April this year, Misortel will upgrade its facilities and “migrate” old subscribers to the new technology.
Good news for Misortel but first things first, they should improve their customer service.
