Northern Mindanao’s roadmap for development envisions the region to firmly establish its role as the gateway and industrial core and trade center in the south.
Hence, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in region 10, recently presented the Regional Development Agenda (RDA) for Northern Mindanao for the next planning period in two (2) planning conferences.
One was for the Landbank Bukidnon Lending Center, and another for the Misamis Oriental Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Provincial Roads Network Improvement Program (PRNDP).
The RDA is a document that provides a roadmap or guide for development planning.
As a planning framework, the RDA articulates the region’s priorities in the coming years, based on inter-sectoral and inter-area analysis and guided by a development scenario.
The spatial strategy delineates the region into four areas (strategic development areas) based on common resource endowments, challenges and potentials.
Agnes Garcia of NEDA presented the framework in both activities while Engrs. Jaime Pacampara, and Rosalyn Yparraguirre provided inputs on standards, data requirements, among others, on infrastructure and physical planning.
The organizers (Amelia Agbayani of the Provincial Roads Management Facility and Angelo Reyes of the Bukidnon Lending Center) of the two (2) activities expressed their appreciation on the inputs, citing the importance of having a wider perspective for their planning exercise.
The PRNDP-TWG identified alternate links such as the Alae-PHIVIDEC road, Opol-Manticao road, and the Baliwagan-Gingoog road, as priority development areas for road network improvement in Misamis Oriental. (NEDA-CAP-TF)
