The National Irrigation Administration presents its new Regional Manager, Engr. Julius Simbajon Maquiling, who took over the reins of the region as full-pledged manager after barely eight (8) months in acting capacity. He was formerly the Provincial Irrigation Officer of Bukidnon, a position he held for 15 years.
Born to parents of humble beginnings at Loay, Bohol, he earned his BS Civil Engineering degree as a scholar, from the Mindanao State University, Marawi City in 1972 and passed the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination subsequently.
He took his Master in Public Administration at Xavier University and honed his technical and managerial skills by trainings and travel experiences here and abroad. He has been in the government service for 36 years and rose from the ranks by virtue of hard work and splendid performance.
His appointment as Provincial Irrigation Officer (PIO) set-off his multi-awarded career garnering citations in the local and national level. He was awarded “Provincial Irrigation Officer of the Year” for three (3) consecutive times thus meriting the “Hall of Fame” plum and twice, the “Most Distinguished Awardee” which is the highest recognition in any category under the government’s service excellence program.
His meteoric rise as Regional Manager is a singular honor, the upshot of total commitment and dedication. His track record has made him a symbol of durability and success and a paragon of spiritual and social consciousness.
Irrigation growth in this region mirror’s its resilience in the midst of the country’s financial crisis. A good part of the credit goes to him for strongly motivating his people to action, a driving force which demonstrates overall leadership competence.
He reanimated the region with audacity and vision leading it to profitability thus, dramatically changing the viability landscape. His hallmark is management excellence and the consistent quality of services rendered.
He is married to the former Benie T. Conol a midwife and is the doting father of daughter Liebling, a dentist and sons Christian June, a civil engineer and Julesben Ceasar, a veterinary medicine junior student.
His guiding principle is “Be what you are.” He has three (3) priorities in life-love God, love your family and love your job. (NIA)
