Ms. Jill Cua, the Senior Corporate Accountant A of the Philippine Ports Authority in the Port of Cagayan de Oro was recently the recipient of the most prestigious Young Achiever Award given by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
The award was instituted by PICPA to give recognition to outstanding CPAs who, at an early stage of their career, have excelled and shown significant achievement in their chosen field. The candidate must not be more than 35 years old and of good moral character.
Ms. Cua was first given the regional award by PICPA that entitled her to qualify for the national award.
The search focuses on the improvement brought about by the candidate in terms of professional development activities as well as involvement in community activities.
Ms. Cua started working for the PPA in 2004 as a Corporate Accounts Analyst and after one year became Senior Corporate Accountant A the position where she is right now.
She hails from Balingoan, Misamis Oriental where her father used to be the mayor. She graduated from the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, Iloilo with a degree in B.S. Accountancy and a Dean’s Lister and took the board exams the same year passing it without any difficulty. City
She is presently a member of the board of the Cagayan de Oro PICPA Chapter and its incoming president for 2010-2011, starting in June of next year.
Ms. Cua is the daughter of Balingoan, Misamis Oriental former Mayor Edgar Ybanez Santos and Glenda Astillero Santos, Clerk of Court of Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Kinoguitan, Mis. Or. She is married to Roque Pumaren Cua, a businessman from Iloilo City and they are blessed with a daughter Scarlette Nicole Santos Cua, 6 yrs old, now in grade 1 at Sacred. Heart Montessori School
She has finished 3rd year of Law studies and has completed the academic requirements for a Masters in Public Administration (MPA). She is presently enrolled at Xavier for a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) under the Civil Service Commission’s Local Scholarship Program for a year under MBA the program. University
The PPA has recognized and honored Ms. Cua’s achievement and has allowed her to attend the awarding ceremonies in Manila last November 30th.
