National Statistics Office Regional Director for R-10 DR. SALVADOR A. AVES was recently given a plaque of recognition by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as a 2009 Gawad CES Awardee in a ceremony held last November 16, 2009 at Malacañang.
The GAWAD Career Executive Service (CES) is a Presidential Award that recognizes exceptional and consistent performance and significant contributions of members of the CES community. It aims to inspire members to live up to the ideals in the CES, which is to bring to the entire bureaucracy change where it is needed, expertise where it is missing and leadership where it is wanting.
Dr. Aves is also a professor at Capitol University. His significant achievements in bringing service to the grassrrots through his innovative Touch Base Civil Registration Management System with which remotest areas and indigenous people are given the chance for civil registration, the convening of solemnizing officers brought harmony and legal proceedings in marriages and the Barangay Civil Registration System which involved the local government units in the facilitation of recording civil registrations.

SANTOS, Regional Director, National Economic and Development Authority; and EVELYN A. TROMPETA, Regional Director, Dept. of Interior and Local Government.
Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo personally handed the Presidential Citation and cash prize of Php 100,000 to each of the seven awardees of this year’s GAWAD CES.
Along with superiors and colleagues in their respective agencies, the awardees’ family members were also present to witness the awarding and to share this personal and official honor.
