The city-owned, 3.8-hectare CDO Mini-Livestock Farm in sitio Lomboy, Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City was formally inaugurated last November 18.
One of the highlights of the inauguration was the conferring of the “Outstanding Swine Raiser of the Year Award” to Edna S. Igbalic (2nd from left) of barangay Carmen and the “Outstanding Goat Raiser of the Year Award” to Gemma Herera (3rd from left) of barangay Puerto by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino ‘Tinnex’ Jaraula (left). City Veterinarian Dr. Perla Asis, City Councilor and Committee on Agriculture Chair Caesar Ian Acenas and his Vice Chair, City Councilor Alden Bacal assisted the Mayor.
The livestock farm will serve as the city’s main breeding center of high-breed animals such as cattle, horse, hog, goat, sheep and even turkey. It will not only serve as an animal breeding facility, but also as a major source of farm animals which will be distributed to farmers under the city-wide livestock dispersal program.
