Oreo Jun “OJ” Vamenta of Cagayan de Oro represented the Philippines in this year’s WCOPA (World Champions Of Performing Arts) held in Hollywood, California, USA in a 9-day marathon of competitions among world champions and won four medals for his singing performances.
Now on its 13th year, the 2009 WCOPA was held at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California, last July 11 to 18. The prestigious international competition event held annually gathers the best talents all over the world.
He won the Gold Medal in the Rock category for his rendition of “Life Is A Highway”.
He got a Silver in the Open category for “Lately” and another Silver for “We Are The Reason” in the Gospel category.
Finally, he earned a Bronxe medal for “Climb Every Mountain” in the Pop category.
OJ used to sing with Mark Bautista in a group called Voiz Male.

Since the country’s inclusion in 2005, a total of five Filipino performing artists have taken home top awards: Jed Madela, 2005 Grand Champion Vocalist of the World and Grand Champion Performer of the World; Cercado Sisters, 2006 Grand Champion Group Vocalists of the World; Reymond Sajor, 2007 Grand Champion Vocalist of the World; Aria Clemente, 2007 Grand Champion Vocalist of the World and Grand Champion Performer of the World; and Catherine Loria, 2008 Grand Champion Vocalist of the World and Grand Champion Performer of the World.
