FOUR bigwig beauties from Northern Mindanao will represent Region 10 for Turismo Pilipina 2009.
Miss Cagayan de Oro 2006 Kathrina Manansala will represent Misamis Oriental, Miss Kagay-an 2008 Ma. Jennifer Precious Gaston will represent Bukidnon, her third runner-up Al Grace Mortola will represent Camiguin and Oroport electronics and communications engineer Rhoda Zaportiza will represent her beloved home province of Lanao del Norte.
Turismo Pilipina 2009 is organized by Gaston’s namesake Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman.
The winner of Turismo Pilipina 2009 will not just travel around the country to promote trade and tourism but will also actively promote the Philippines abroad through the different tourism activities that NAITAS – the country’s largest association of independent travel agencies – has prepared for her during her reign.
Manansala, 24, would like to describe herself as “a very fun person, I could simply talk about anything under the heat of the sun… I’m also a sleepyhead…I could give up my favorite chocolate bar for a ten-hour sleep…I’m a traveler, traveling is what I absolutely love doing…and I’m a self-confessed shopaholic!!!”
Gaston, 21, has been a ballet dancer at Grace and Pointes Dance Center since time immemorial. After being crowned as Miss Kagay-an 2008, she dabbles her time teaching young kids how to ballet and managing the family-owned SIAM Foundation, Inc.
Mortola, 22, is a registered nurse but is busy these days ushering in kids of South Korean expats.
Zaportiza, 22, is living in a guy’s world at Oroport Cargohandling Services, Inc. Despite that, she remains in her poise and occasionally hosts corporate events and other social affairs here and in her hometown of Iligan City.
