Endorsing Misamis Oriental’s new haven, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cheerfully told the crowd here of her grandmother’s tale of the “secret mountain” now named Lasang Secret Adventure Park.
She recalled the legend of the old forest (Lasang) as home of the “Apo” or spirits which dwell in the thick and vast forest floors that anyone who dares to enter it will never come back.
“I am glad that finally I visited Lasang and after all came out in one piece,” she jokingly added.
Such were the President’s words which gained interest and smiles from the people who greeted her during her visit in Lasang Secret Adventure Park in the town of Initao, Misamis Oriental last September 9.
She had a brief tour along the boardwalk of the forest with Misamis Oriental Governor, Oscar Moreno and Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque.
The Provincial Government initially spent PhP 3 million for the development of Lasang. It is part of the Initao-Libertad National Park which was preserved and protected by the government.
The five hanging bridges, 100-meter treetop boardwalk with 80-foot spiral staircase and a zip line are among its attractions, which allows visitors to explore and experience the “inner sanctum” of the forest.
Other attractions include birds, monkeys and wild animals that can be often seen in the park.
