The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the local government unit of Misamis Oriental for the Provincial Road Management Facility (PRMF).
His Excellency Rod Smith, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, and DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Austere Panadero sealed the partnership with Governor Oscar Moreno of Misamis Oriental for the implementation of the PRMF projects in the province.
The project calls for an initial funding of P40 Million for this year and the AusAid will undertake, through the Philippines Road Management Facility (PRMF), road rehabilitation and maintenance work on an existing 20 kilometer stretch of provincial road in the municipality of Opol, that passes through four upland barangays with a combined population of more than 7,000 people.
Ambassador Rod Smith, in giving the overview of the PRMF project, emphasized that the selection process was a rigorous one, but the commitment to road maintenance and the dedication to good governance by the provinces were also considered as basis in selecting the provinces.
Present in the signing for Misamis Oriental were Vice Governor Norris Babiera, Mayor Dixon Yasay of Opol and Mayor Redentor Salvaleon of Claveria. The DILG program officers and some local officials and functionaries were also there to witness.
