The construction of the 5-storey Science Complex of the Mindanao University of Science & Technology will start soon or to be safe, within this year. Based on the perspective on a billboard installed inside the campus, the building will have a glass-dominated facade and will likely become a major fixture in local modern architecture.
Mindanao Polytechnic State College (MPSC) was converted into Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) only last January 7, 2009.
Even President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo formally came to Cagayan de Oro City in signing the MUST Bill at the MPSC Gymnasium (which burned down recently).
Among others, the said conversion allowed advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and advanced instruction on mathematics, science, technology, engineering, and advanced research and extension work in human resource development in critical skills and competencies required for global competitiveness.
Project costs will come from the University Modernization Program Fund, which according to the law will be in the amount of Fifty Million Pesos (Php 50,000,000.00) every year for a period of 5 years.
