Cagayan de Oro City siblings Shaneen Ched and Kevin Luis Sia have been selected to be part of the Philippines’ 34 senior and junior members of the Smart taekwondo team who competed in the Asean Taekwondo Federation Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last June 4-7, 2009.

Kevin is the country’s entry to Junior Men’s Kyorugi (Sparring) Division under the Lightweight Category.

Shaneen on the other hand is part of the Women’s Poomsae (Forms) Team.

The athletes, according to Philippine Taekwondo Association president Robert N. Aventajado, vied in the kyorugi (sparring) and poomsae (forms) events.
   
Poomsae, now included in the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos, is being held for the first time in the ATF championships.
   
PTA vice president Sung Chon Hong heads the Philippine delegation.  The other officials are Kim Hong Sik and Dindo Simpao, senior coaches; Roberto Cruz and Dax Alberto Morfe, junior coaches; Tem Igor Mella, poomsae coach; and Stephen Fernandez, Jesus Morales III and Ceasar Mateo, international referees.
