Northern Mindanao grabbed the grand champion award of the recently concluded two-day sports competition of the 2nd Commission on Election Mindanao Goodwill Games in Agusan del Sur.
Traveling from as far as Sulu, Tawi-tawi and Basilan, Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, Comelec athletes from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao proved their skills in swimming, grabbing the first price award in both men and women categories. 
However, not only in swimming did athletes from Armm excel. They also proved their ability in badminton, waving their trophies as champions in both men and women categories, while receiving the championship trophy in lawn tennis men’s category. Armm landed second in the overall championship.
Western Mindanao (Region 9) composed of Zamboanga provinces ranked third.
Northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) ranked fourth in the overall rating.
Of the six participating regions, Central Mindanao (Region 12) fell last in the list, but was good in dart and billiards, while Southern Mindanao (Region 11) composed of Davao provinces and Compostela Valley ranked fifth, but excelled in track and field 100-meter dash for men and lawn tennis for women.
“This activity of the Comelec which only happens here in Mindanao proves Mindanaoans have stronger sense of cooperation and teamwork,” Comelec regional director Francisco Pobe said.
The 2nd Comelec Mindanao Goodwill Games ended with 15 minutes of fireworks that filled the air of the sports complex with bangs and colors.
