ALA gym patron Tony Aldeguer plans to send undefeated Philippine lightweight champion Jason Pagara (18-1, 10 KOs) to Las Vegas to train alongside Mark Jason Melligen at the Mayweather gym.
That’s because Pagara of Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City cannot get the kind of sparring he needs to improve his skills because there is a lack of good fighters in the heavier weight divisions.
The 17-year-old Pagara scored a third-round knockout over Indonesian welterweight champion Hero Katili in a big fight card at the jam-packed Cebu Coliseum last May 16.
After decking Katili with a solid combination followed by a perfectly timed uppercut in the second round, Pagara rattled the back-pedaling Indonesian with three stiff left jabs. And as Pagara backed the Indon into the ropes, he landed a cracking right that sent Katili crashing to the canvas to be counted out at 2:15 of the round.
Katili was woozy even after being counted out and later told Standard Today he didn’t know what hit him.
