Monte Carlo Realty’s Budgetel opened just right in time for the 93rd Freemasons Annual Convention last April 23-25, 2009. In fact, the driveway was still undergoing finishing on the first day of the convention yet the Budgetel has been fully booked already.

The first-of-its-kind hotel in Cagayan de Oro City is located along Corrales Extension near Capitol University. The 2-storey building houses several rooms which can accommodate 16 to 32 persons. The fully air-conditioned rooms are patterned like tourist cabins on domestic ships, bunks with labels/numbers, which makes you feel like you’re on a journey across the seas. The Budgetel is also just behind Southern Phils. College, a school majoring on Maritime Courses.

Beneath the foam and sheets are secret compartments where you can place your personal belongings like wallets, cell phones, ipods, camera, etc.  Also, a separate locker is provided which can be rented on a daily basis for bags, laptops and other belongings for safety.

The main lobby is also reminiscent of an arrival/departure area on a bus terminal or airport, with a large flat screen to watch “while waiting”.

The Budgetel is just the initial phase of the project as a new 7-storey hotel will soon be built right across the building in the fenced area seen below. This building will have rooms for single or double occupancy just like other hotels in the city.

Budgetel is ideal for groups. In fact after the Freemasons, several groups from Davao were the next clients: Ateneo de Davao and Univ. of Southeastern Phils. who were on a field trip in the city.

This building below used to house a school and due for demolition to give way to a parking area.

Rates are P250 per head and P310 if you need sheets. Budgetel can be contacted through 856-4200, 72-66-43, 856-4300 (telefax) or email at dbudgetel@gmail.com.

Their website is still under construction and will soon be available.
