A 16-year-old gymnast from Region 10 and a 17-year-old cager from Region 11 were crowned as the Binibining Palaro 2009 and Ginoong Palarong 2009, respectively.
Karissa Grace R. Falcon, who stands five feet and five inches, bested 13 other candidates from other regions. She has just graduated as an honor student at Corpus Cristi School, a private secondary school in Cagayan de Oro City. She is a regional gymnastics champion and wants to become a professional ballet dancer.
In the question and answer portion, Karissa Grace picked up the question: “Based on our 2009 Palarong Pambansa 2009 team, Bridging Unity, Peace and Progress through Sports, in what way do you think sports can bring us peace?”
She answered: “I do believe in this sports we have, the Palarong Pambansa there’s always competition present in all regions. Even though there is competition (among) these regions, their love for the game brings about peace.”
Her counterpart is six-footer Martin F. Delfinado who serves as center forward in his region’s basketball team. He has also just graduated from high school at Holy Child School of Davao City. He was voted by his fellow candidates as the most friendly candidate, thus making him the Mr. Congeniality.
The question that he randomly picked up was: “Given a chance to talk with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, what appeal would you raise to the President regarding government support in the field of sport?”
Martin answered that the government should invest or support more on the improvement of sports equipment and facilities so that the Philippines can be more competitive in sports globally.
The lst Runner-up in Miss Palaro tilt was Rachelle Joyce M. Canimo of Region 4-A. She also was awarded as Top Sports Achiever. The 2nd Runner-Up was Christine Jade Jerusalem Bagious of Region 12. The 3rd Runner Up was Patricia Mae Santos of Region 11, who was awarded also as Best in Sports Wear, Best in Regional Costume and Most Eloquent. Princess Dianne Q. Rico of Region 4-B emerged as 4th Runner-Up and Best in Talent.
On the other hand, Angelone T. Soria of National Capital Region won as Mr. Palaro First Runner Up, Best in Sports Wear and Top Sports Achiever. The 2nd Runner-Up and Most Eloquent Awardee was Marvin Val Amoroso of Region 12, 3rd Runner-Up -Marc Jacob P. San Miguel of Region 4-A and 4th Runner-Up – Alexis James B. Labadan of Region 10.
Region 7’s candidate, Ralph Jumuad was proclaimed Best in Talent.
Aside from sash and plaque, the winners received cash prizes. The Binibini and Ginoong Palaro received P10,000 each; 1st Runners-up – P8,000 each; 2nd Runners-up – P7,000 each; 3rd Runners-up – P6,000 each; and 4th Runners-Uup – P5,000 each. The Best in Talents received P3,000 each.

Pilipinas Universe 2005 Gionna Cabrera, Samar State University cultural director Dr. Meldrito Valles, University of the East Dance artistic director Gener Caringal and Bb. Pilipinas International 2006.
